Minecraft landing on Android Sept. 29th, iOS before the end of the year

Until now, Minecraft- Pocket Edition has been exclusive to the Sony Xperia Play. Great for Xperia users, not so great for Android and iOS users. Today, Mojang has announced, as seen on the Jace Hall Show Blog, that Minecraft - Poket Edition will be coming to all Android devices on September 29th, with an iOS version coming sometime before the holidays.

In the video below, one of the devs gives a demonstration of how the controls work on a touchscreen, opposed to a traditional mouse and keyboard setup. Nothing too innovative here, with a rather large onscreen D-pad and finger taps replacing mouse clicks. Either way, we think Minecraft feels at home on the small screen and will definitely make a great addition to the App Store and Market.

Details regarding pricing or exact availability for iOS is not avalible, people will have a better idea of what to expect on the iPhone, however, once the Android version is released tomorrow. The title is currently listed on the Market for $6.50, no word if that will change when it sheds its Xperia exclusivity.
